The club also confirmed that they have an option to buy the 25-year-old Czech Republic striker at the end of the season, although it’s unclear who will make that call as by the end of the season Martin O’Neill’s time as interim manager will end and Celtic will be looking at bringing in a permanent manager to replace Wilfried Nancy. The Frenchman lasted just 33 days in the job losing six of the eight days on charge.

It’s a year to the day since Kyogo Furuhashi played his last game for the club and on the first anniversary of Celtic operating without a replacement, Tomas Cvancara is announced as a Celtic player until at least the end of May.

“It’s a massive honour to sign for this club,” the new Celt said to the official Celtic FC website. “I am so excited to get started and make my own contribution to the team. We have lots of challenges ahead of us and I am ready to get going and do everything I can to meet these and bring success to our brilliant supporters.

“Celtic is one of the great names in world football and I am delighted to be here to play my part.”

Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill, currently in Bologna ahead of this evening’s Europa League match added, again via the official Celtic FC website: “We are delighted to welcome Tomas to the club, we believe he has some real qualities and we think he will be an import addition to the squad going forward.”

Cvancara presumably will go straight into the squad for the crucial match at Tynecastle on Sunday against league leaders Hearts, hopefully he’s in the starting XI and gets off to a flyer in the Hoops helping us win the three points.

There’s also an exclusive Celtic TV interview with Tomas on the way. Wonder if he’s tasted Irn Bru yet?
