Celtic continue to show interest in Scotland striker with outcast going the other way

Celtic have been in the market for a striker for months on end, and in typical Celtic fashion have inevitably left it until the last knockings of the window before they made a decision.

Giorgos Giakoumakis has been the latest link, alongside Siriki Dembele and various others over the last six months of the window.

But with Celtic needing a striker before Tuesday’s deadline, and Giakoumakis progressing at the pace of a snail, it seems Celtic have re-registered their interest in someone else – none other than Hibernian’s Kevin Nisbet.

Nisbet, 23, has been at Hibs for the best part of twelve months following his move from Dunfermline Athletic in the summer of 2020.

Nisbet enjoyed a frustrating carer up until his move to Raith Rovers in 2018, where he scored 29 in 34 to notify the interest of Dunfermline.

And, having broken into the Scotland side this year after a string of impressive performances for Jack Ross’s men, Nisbet has once again linked with Celtic in a move which could progress quickly if the wheels get into motion.

According to Peter Martin, It is thought a fee of £4million would be enough to tempt Hibs to part with their star asset – however, Celtic have a striker they don’t need and one that Hibs fans already love – in forgotten man Leigh Griffiths.

Griffiths hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football for Ange’s men this season despite his year-long contract extension – with Kyogo Furuhashi, Odsonne Edouard and Albian Ajeti preferred in front of him.

It would be a deal that the Celtic faithful would be ecstatic with – if anything, they would be happy just to get rid of Griffiths.

Time will tell if the deal will be struck – I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope it does become reality.

    Not at all.

You do not speak for me.

  2. This season we don’t need or want off field distractions or problems sadly leigh Griffiths is way too high a risk due to his past. He was a great goalscorer for us but his time is up.

  3. No chance, why on earth would Hibs want Griffiths? They’ve got a good striker and they part exchange him for a worse one? Maybe cash only but Hibs are hard to deal with.
