Celtic Could Benefit As Dembele Reportedly Wants Dream Move

The Celtic Star previously reported that Manchester United and Chelsea were potentially going to enter a bidding war for the signature of former Celt, Moussa Dembele. With Celtic having a sell on clause, thought to be between 10% and 15%, the Hoops could be set for a decent windfall considering that Lyon have already turned down a £40m bid for the player, but are said to be open to the sale this summer.

Now the transfer talk has taken another twist as Sky Sports reporter, Kaveh Solhekol, has today claimed that Moussa Dembele wants a dream move to Old Trafford and that Red Devils manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has stated that the English giants “Will sign a striker.”

Dembele has scored 39 goals in 83 matches since joining Lyon and has courted lots of attention from other clubs. Kaveh Solhekol clarified the speculation surrounding the striker with the following information:

“Dembele will be allowed to leave Lyon at the end of the season and he wants to return to England where he started his career at Fulham. He has scored 13 times this season and injuries to key players meant Lyon were unwilling to let him leave in January. They also wanted to keep him because they are still in the Champions League and face Juventus next Wednesday.

Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, will let Dembele leave in the summer but he will have to settle for less than his €100m (£83m) asking price.

Chelsea tried to sign Dembele last month and were willing to pay up to £40m and he has also been watched by Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham.

Tottenham tried to sign him when he was at Celtic and they are looking for a striker in the summer.

Dembele is keeping his options open but playing for a Manchester United side who have qualified for the Champions League would be a dream move.”

The Celtic board won’t care where Dembele ends up, as long as the fee is considerable. With so much competition for the transfer and the player wanting the move, it looks like good news and further income from the transfer market for Celtic.
