Celtic discussing permanent deal with Southampton for Fraser Forster

FRASER FORSTER has been the main target of Celtic this summer so far no deal has been done to extend the Englishman’s second stint at the Scottish Champions. It appeared that Southampton were only interested in loaning Forster although reports are suggesting that if a deal takes place it will be for a permanent move.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Celtic have opened talks with Southampton over the permanent transfer of Forster.

Forster left Celtic back in 2014 for Southampton in a £10m move but rejoined Neil Lennon’s side last August in a loan deal. The 32-year-old impressed with his performances and propelled himself to the top of the transfer target list for the club.

Moi Elyounoussi is still a target of Neil Lennon ahead of next season’s attempt to win 10-in-a-row. Meanwhile, Southampton are keen on recruiting Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham but it is unclear whether they will attempt to include him in the negotiations for either Elyounoussi or Forster.

Yesterday, Craig Gordon announced his departure from the Scottish Champions after six trophy laden years in Glasgow. This means that the number one jersey that Gordon vacates is available should a deal be completed to bring Forster back.
