Celtic face a fight to hold on to talented youngster as Man United and Arsenal show interest

It’s not a new thing to see the richest clubs trying to hoover up a lot of talent at a young age, but it will be interesting to see if they scale things back a bit.

It’s a shame for most of the young players, but if a big side sign 20 youngsters for nominal fees and 1 or 2 make it to the first team then it makes business sense, even if it’s morally questionable.

Finances should be stretched in the next couple of years so it’s hard to tell if clubs will focus on investing in youth or if they will take the short term option and just sign established players.

Either way, The Sun have reported that Celtic will have a serious problem trying to hold on to one of their prized youngsters.

They report that Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs are all looking at Daniel Kelly, who’s a 15 year old midfielder who’s been impressing in Celtic’s youth system.

The go on to say that Celtic have offered him a professional deal to try and ward off this interest, as that would also prevent the Premier League sides from signing Kelly for a nominal fee.

He’s still young so it’s impossible to say how good he could be or if he’s close to being in the first team at all, but let’s hope he sees his long term future at Celtic and commits to that professional contract.
