Celtic face battle with Leicester to secure signing of possible wonderkid

It seems the links in the news between Celtic and Leicester just won’t go away. We’ve seen Brendan Rodgers have an awful lot to say about his former employer in recent weeks, but at least this is just a good old fashioned transfer tussle.

According to an exclusive from Football Insider 247, Celtic are currently locked in a battle with Leicester over 15 year old Bruno Davidson – labelled a “wonderkid” in their story.

He’s been impressing a lot of people with his performances for Hutchison Vale so there’s a few teams looking to make him an offer. They suggest that Celtic have already made their bid, but he impressed in a recent trial game for Leicester’s youth team and they are preparing a bid of their own.

It also sounds like he had a trial with Liverpool earlier in the year, but they don’t say if they are still interested in him.

It’s impossible to say at this point how good a player he could be, obviously he’s very highly rated but he’s still a kid so you have to think a first team appearance could be a few years away.

While the Premier League might have more money, Celtic have got a recent track record of giving chances to younger players and allowing them to move on when it’s right for everyone.

The recent emergence of players like Jeremie Frimpong, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele has shown there’s a clear pathway to the first team, while Leicester are trying to position themselves as a possible Champions League club – that can only lead to more investment being thrown at the first team and limited chances for their youth players.

Proof that young players can break through at Celtic park

Wherever he does decide to go, it’s unlikely there will be any immediate impact, but it’s certainly an interesting name to keep an eye on for the future.
