Celtic face competition from Robbie Keane to sign prolific Croatian striker

Celtic are reportedly facing competition to sign Croatian striker Franko Kovacevic. The 26-year-old has scored 25 goals in 28 games for NK Celje.

According to Croatian journalist Ižak Ante Sučić, Celtic are interested in the attacker but face competition from Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph confirmed that Celtic were exploring conditions of a deal but were considering a number of options.

It is clear that the player is enjoying a fine run of form. However, he has enjoyed a nomadic career playing in South Korea, Cyprus, Germany and the USA, as well as Germany without really kicking on.

Celtic have also been linked with Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana. Celtic explored a loan move in the summer but it failed to go through as Chelsea had used their allocation of foreign loan deals.

Celtic require attacking reinforcements and Martin O’Neill has stressed the importance of getting quality into the squad. In order to compete with Hearts and Rangers, who have both strengthened, Celtic need to be active in the market and bring players into the club.
