Earlier today Celtic confirmed that as expected Scott Bain has left the club after over seven years as a Celt, with the 33 year old goalkeeper leaving with an incredible 14 winners medals to his name, a grand total made up by seven Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups…

He arrived at Celtic in the closing hours of the January 2018 transfer window, wearing a Hibs tracksuit as he’d been on loan at the Easter Road club after ‘Boxer’ had a dressing room disagreement with Neil McCann which ended badly for the former Rangers and Hearts winger.
The Celtic Star actually broke the story that Scott Bain would make his debut at Ibrox in March 2018 in a crucial league match that theRangers were convinced that they’d win. Douglas ‘Red Card, Red Card’ helped convince Willie Collum that Jozo Simonovic should be sent off for a challenge that hardly merited a yellow.

It was great to watch the linesman get sent off himself today at the Scottish Parliament.
Scott Bain played his part on that Beautiful Sunday and in doing so helped create the vast reduction in the away ticket allocations for Glasgow Derbies. Bain made 78 appearances for Celtic, the last in a friendly over in Ireland last October against Sligo Rovers. He also won three international caps for Scotland during his time at Celtic, where he was a hugely important squad player and highly regarded by management and also by his teammates throughout his time at the club.

Scott’s last appearance at Celtic Park was on trophy day 2024 when he came in late in the game against St Mirren to replace Joe Hart as the Englishman brought the curtain down on his playing career. Scott Bain incidentally is NOT retiring, at 33 he wants to play more and has undoubtedly got a move in the pipeline, which Celtic’s decision to allow him to leave on a free transfer will help happen.
Scott Bain, speaking the official Celtic FC website, gave his thoughts on his time at Celtic coming to a close.
“I am really sad, of course, to be leaving the club but I am so thankful, too, for everything the club has given me,” ‘Boxer’ said. “I have enjoyed my time at Celtic massively and it has been a huge honour to be part of the biggest and best club in the country.

“I would like to thank the Gaffer and all the other managers I’ve worked with, my many team-mates over the years and all the staff at Celtic. I’ve made some great friends at Celtic and will always be supporting the club in everything it does.
“The Celtic fans are the best around and I thank them for all the support I have been given by them too. I wish the club and our supporters nothing but success for the future.”

Brendan Rodgers spoke on behalf of everyone at the club about Scott Bain and the news that he is now moving on.
“Scott has given everything to Celtic and I would like to thank him sincerely for his time at the club. He has been a valued member of the squad and a great team-mate, really liked and respected by us all,” the Celtic manager said.
He added: “Everyone at the club wishes Scott and his family all the very best for the future.”
And so say all of us. Best of luck Boxer!
