Celtic fans await ScotGov Response after Rangers players given Fixed Penalty Notices by Police Scotland for breaching Covid rules

Two Rangers players have been formally issued with Fixed Penalty notices by Police Scotland and attending a house party in breach of the current Covid restrictions. The Ibrox club, founded in 2012, has now formally suspended their player George Edmundson and Jordan Jones and have stated that an internal investigation will now take place with both players being told to self-isolate for 14 days.

Bolingoli will never play for Celtic again after his Covid breach.

While theRangers have acted properly – as indeed have Police Scotland – it is worth pointing out that similar to the Boli Bolingoli situation and the Aberdeen players night on the town earlier in the season, all three clubs have to accept that their fixtures have to be cancelled as a result of these breaches by individual players. Celtic and Aberdeen both had top accept two games being postponed – after the direct intervention of the First Minister – and no theRangers can expect no less themselves after their players have broken the rules.

Indeed it is also worth remembering that Nicola Sturgeon issued the Scottish game with a yellow card after the Boli/Aberdeen breaches and said that if there was any further breaches then a red card could follow. The Scottish game therefore waits to see if Sturgeon is minded to reach into her top pocket again and a red card could see the game close down for an extended period.

Celtic Supporters, reacting to this breaking news are in no doubt that theRangers must be punished in exactly the same way as both Celtic and Aberdeen. Celtic missed out on games against St Mirren (subsequently rearranged and played) and Aberdeen and that fixture remains outstanding.
