Celtic Fans Collective responds to club’s Green Brigade ban

Celtic board doing nothing more than taking their frustrations out on the Green Brigade, they don’t fool anyone…

The Green Brigade have suffered yet another setback as the club announced yesterday that they have banned the supporter group for a further spell of games and may end up closing the entire North Curve.

According to the club’s Supporters Update posted on the club’s website last night , the reasoning behind the extension of the ban is due to ‘safety incidents’ after discussions with the safety advisory group of Glasgow City Council.

The club stated that they’ve been left with no option but to close the first six rows of the rail seating section, and suspend the season tickets of the Green Brigade as well as access to all matches at Paradise and away matches.

It’s a bit harsh wouldn’t you agree? The Green Brigade admittedly have had their moments, but to be treated so shabbily by the club is totally unfair in my view. This after all is a group of supporters who add massively to the match day atmosphere, as well as doing a lot of good work off the park, but get treated with nothing but contempt in return.

A cynic would rightly suggest that the club are taking their frustrations out on the group of supporters who happen to be the most vocal in calling out their gross incompetence. The Celtic Board aren’t fooling anyone, we can see their agenda, and if they think that it will deflect from their failings, then they are sadly mistaken.

Celtic should be handing out olive branches to the support not banning Celtic supporters. If they believe that a threat was made by two supporters at the AGM and they clearly know the two individuals concerned, then why not issue bans against those two individuals and not a whole group of supporters who were not even at the AGM.

Imagine if a shareholder did something that the two Green Brigade guys have been accused of and that shareholder sits four rows in front of you. Now imagine YOU get a ban even though you weren’t at the AGM. How would you feel? Not very happy is obviously the understated answer I would suppose. I’d be absolutely raging and perhaps so would you.

Celtic’s Collective punishment policy is disgraceful and this ban is worse that the first which cam after the alleged incident at the Falkirk game. Hundreds of Celtic fans have been banned for something two shareholders are accused of doing at the AGM. The vast majority of these fans that have been banned by Celtic’s heavy handed management of the situation are NOT shareholders so could not have been at the AGM.

It’s an absolute disgrace. That’s my view please feel free to add your own thoughts in the comments below. Meanwhile here is the view of the Celtic Fans Collective who have posted this response on social media:

‘The Board of Celtic PLC last night launched a vicious and vindictive attack on the GB as an organisation and on two individual members. We give notice that their attempt to divide the Collective will not work. The Collective stands in solidarity with fans who have been banned.’ Celtic Fans Collective

  1. Wow again supporting the green brigade instead of the club, did you watch the CCTV footage of the hoards emptying the standing area to interfere with the stewards and police??? They think they are bigger than the club and you should be calling them to account for their actions.

    • You like them, need to stop making stuff up. I watched the film, 20 or 30 people left the area to enter the concourse, what they were doing after going into the tunnel is anyone’s guess, no one could see, or maybe you have X-ray specs?. So tell me, how did you magically see this interference?. Have you missed our police force lately, beating up old women and men for peaceful protest?, I haven’t and I wouldn’t believe a single word they say. As for our board, their lies have been exposed so many times, a blind man with a stick wouldn’t believe them. With your magic vision I’m guessing you seen the treatment of a kid by a grown adult, now if they were doing that with me, I would have retaliated, maybe even throwing some water at them, which we know isn’t an offence, the board told us so when the hun player sprayed our supporters.
Police Scotland have the GB flagged as a terrorist organisation, and have kettled scores of innocent people on more than one occasion, while supposedly targeting them. Funnily the same police force stood by and watched fascist Huns attacking immigrants, while again kettling innocent fans who were there in solidarity with the immigrants, not to mention giving the fascists police escorts to wreck George Square twice, even taking part themselves if the courts are to be believed.
That’ll be the hordes you mention, that regularly stock Glasgows food banks?, but then you probably don’t think food banks exist, and that our government is doing a grand job?. Try sticking to the facts and someone might listen to you, repeating conjecture and lies just makes you look foolish, deluded, brainwashed, naive?, take your pick.

      • Truth is a section of so called fans, call them green brigade, collective, curve or whatever are trying to turn the club into a toxic political haven which they want to have control how the club is run. Well myself and the vast majority of fans wish they would disappear and allow the real supporters peace to enjoy the football. We’re Sick to the teeth with you.

        • Another who seems to have trouble grasping reality. The Collective are an organisation made up of many of the representative bodies of Celtic fans. The Green Brigade and The Bhoys are part of that but so too are many others. From what I can tell The Collective appears to represent the majority. You, I’m afraid, are in the minority.

          • I wouldn’t be so sure they represent the majority mate, they do represent the mouthy and loudest but from what I see in forums etc it’s not a majority but that has never stopped them claiming to be, and to say other fan groups are involved I’m happy to accept that but the green brigade do speak and act like it’s all them, they wouldn’t even let other supporters in their side speak at the AGM, everyone needs to fall in like behind them or they are the enemy

        • Totally agree mate, as a shareholder I have contacted the club and already suggested banning the GB for life, remove the rail seats and put in accessible seats and give them free of charge to special needs, schools and charities for the rest of the season, we had plenty atmosphere before the rail seat were put in and we can again.

I know from experience tho speaking g out against these “fans” I will again get a barrage of abuse but I’m sick to the back teeth of them trying to rip our club apart. I’m not a fan of the board but they do what they do. Martin has made a mockery of the idea our terrible performances we the boards fault, with proper management and coaching we are significantly better that we had shown, time for the kids to stick their dummies back in their mouths and everyone to start pulling together

    • Well done the board. Although a few changes are. Needed there, the so called Green Brigade cannot be allowed to dictate to the board.

  2. Paul, I was going to respond to your post to call out the nonsense you are spouting but within the 3 sentences you have posted there is so much garbage that I was getting lost treating every point. Lets focus on just 1 point – “supporting the green brigade instead of the club”. I think this snippet says it all. We are ALL the “Club”. Players, manager & coaching staff, etc. But the fans are the single biggest component. You seem to be referring to the board as the club which is deeply worrying.

  3. Any fan who watched Ross Desmond read out daddy Dermot ( the Ghost ) Desmond’s letter, criticising all Celtic fans, should realise exactly how they feel about our fans.
Dermot Desmond couldn’t even be bothered to attend the AGM, but instead sent his son Ross to stir the pot and give Liewell the chance to cancel the meeting.
As for the collective banning of the GB, surely some legal class action can be taken against the Board.
This Board in it’s entirety has to be the most self centered, disgusting and fan hating Board of our club, in it’s history.
    GET THEM OUT.

    • But Ross Desmond was NOT criticizing all Celtic fans, was he! He was referring to a section of fans. Big difference! By their behavior, the GB consist of young angry gullible idiots being manipulated by rabble rousing Marxist agitators. These agitators will pick up on any small flaw and magnify it 100 times over, until ordinary football criticism becomes a frenzy of hate. They are not Celtic supporters, they don’t care about the club, they only care about their illusion of self importance and are Hell bent on ripping our club apart. They are trying to create a civil war within our club at a time of unprecedented domestic success.
