Celtic Fans Collective Update ahead of Celtic Park Meeting

The Celtic Fans Collective today updated all signatories to the open letter that was published on 3 September with over 400 Celtic organisations signing. This eventually resulted in an invitation by the Celtic Board which will be held this evening at Celtic Park…

Celtic invited representatives from all the various supporters organisations but not fan media to the meeting. They also did not invite the newly formed Celtic Fans Collective and as we pointed out last week the first item on the agenda should be for the club to be asked formally to recognise the Celtic Fans Collective as the organisation now collectively representing the Celtic support.

We’ll give the club a pass on their failure to invite representatives of the Celtic Fans Collective as apparently they did not have the relevant contact details. And there are enough places available to the supporters groups with some providing passes to the Celtic Fans Collective committee members so that they will be present this evening.

Here’s the update from The Celtic Fans Collective which is being shared so that every supporter has an insight into what’s happening later today and when the outcome of the meeting will be shared with the wider Celtic support. As soon as The Celtic Star gets the update we’ll post in full on the site…

CELTIC FAN COLLECTIVE UPDATE…

As you will be aware, there is a meeting scheduled tonight with members of the Celtic board to discuss fan concerns. This meeting follows collective fan action and fan pressure. Thank you once again for your efforts so far on this front.

Meeting invites were issued by the club directly to traditional fan organisations offering them two representatives each at the meeting. Although every organisation invited to the meeting is a member of the Collective with the exception of one (North of Ireland CSCs), the Collective never received a direct invite to the meeting. Following conversations with the club, we have secured three representatives specifically for the Collective.

In order to ensure the Collective’s representation is as broad and reflective of the wider support as possible, Bhoys Celtic, Celtic Trust, Green Brigade and North Curve Celtic have kindly each given up one representative to the Collective.

This means that in total, the Celtic Fans Collective will have seven representatives at this meeting in addition to those representing other fan organisations who are also members of the Collective. The seven Collective representatives are also on the Steering Group and represent a mix of CSCs and fan media.

Our goal remains clear: to secure meaningful, positive change for the betterment of Celtic Football Club and its supporters, and to get answers to the questions raised in the open letter of 3rd September.

We will provide an update to all open letter signatories as quickly as possible following tonight’s meeting.

We understand the entire fan representation at the meeting is as follows, although individual organisations retain autonomy over their representation. The Collective representatives, and others, will meet prior to the meeting to plan a strategy in order that the meeting remains on track and productive.

    • Wow! TWO logical and REAL fans!
Are we finally starting to make a breakthrough?
      Well said! Hail Hail!

  2. so if i read this right, the self appointed Celtic Fand Collective are to now be seen as THE voice of Celtic fans so the Club no longer need to engaage with all the individual groups??

To be fair im sick of the lot of it, the fans have manages to take a season that was looking good and piled so much negativity on the club, manager and team that the atmosphere at some of the games has been poisionus

Im not going to sit here and defen the board, but we should ALL be honest enough to look at the failings this season and see its NOT the board.

Has us fans (and yeah i was thesame) got what we wanted and the board acted quicker and got the likes of Balikwisha in early then we would not have gone for Tounekti. Well unless something dramatically changes im gonna say thank ghod they dragged their heels on that one

The guys on th pitch are under performing, they need our support, no one can deny the change in the atosphere when we got the equaliser against Motherwell

FORGET the board, BACK the TEAM end the petty infighting thats killing the club

    • Finally a real fan with a functioning brain!
Isn’t common sense wonderful when it’s used?
