“Celtic fans everywhere, massive support here,” Hoops in Valencia take over

THIS image from Valencia this afternoon brings back memories of The Celtic take-over of Seville in May 2003 for the UEFA Cup Final against Porto.

“Celtic fans everywhere, massive support here,” Tommy Cummings stated on social media.

Early estimates indicated that around 10,000 supporters were making the trip to Valencia, the vast majority without tickets. Yet the La Liga side seem perfectly happy to have aptly sections in their impressive Mestalla stadium – which was so expensive that it nearly bankrupted them – rather than allow football supporters to watch the game.

Not only that but Valencia failed to provide a fans zone or to make any arrangements whatsoever for the huge amount of Celtic supporters currently in their city.

Now the number could be even bigger that first envisaged. The support will of course do our club proud but the hosts have done little or nothing that’s been friendly or helpful.
