Celtic fans need to be patient on new signings front

There’s a number of supporters who have expressed their displeasure at the lack of signing activity at the club.

Yes we want a quality signing or two in the door, especially since the departure of Jota, but the new season is still four weeks away. Brendan has not long arrived and has just started to work with his squad, indeed today is probably the first time that he has had all his squad together with the return to training of the players who had been on an extended break due to their international commitments in June.

This is a Celtic squad that is already littered with quality and proven winners at that. Yes we need a couple of additional new faces in to freshen things up, but it’s hardly an instant necessity.

Don’t forget that Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio – who I spoke to on Friday afternoon – have also arrived. Both look like players with huge potential. Kyogo and Diazen Maeda have also signed new four year deals so the club have their eyes fully focused on that front and today Callum McGregor signed a new five year deal.

It has been suggested that Brendan is shopping at the top end of the market and he wants proven quality in. Signings such as that take time to come to fruition. He has a huge budget – in terms of Celtic at least – due to the Jota sale and it just remains a matter of when not if he signs a big name or two.

Be patient, good things come to those who wait. You’re unlikely to be disappointed.

  1. He’ll be shopping nowhere near the top end of the market. Who at the top end of the market and of sane mind would want to play in the SPL? The Swiss boy has voiced his preference to play in the Bundesliga or the EPL….and he means now not in 2 or 3 years time.
