React: The summer signing who fans have taken a liking to

Celtic secured their long-awaited quadruple treble yesterday with a nailbiting 3-3 (4-3 on pens) victory against Hearts at Hampden Park to write themselves into folklore, as the first team across the world to ever complete the amazing feat.

Many players contributed greatly to the victory; keeper Conor Hazard came up with the heroics in the penalty shoot-out, Leigh Griffiths once again popped up when it mattered with a crucial goal and Kristoffer Ajer – Mr. Reliable – put in a sturdy defensive performance and scored the winning penalty to send Bhoys’ fans around the world delirious.

However, there is a player who perhaps went under the radar yesterday who excelled massively; and Celtic fans have picked up on his playmaking talents in midfield.

David Turnbull, who signed from Motherwell in late August for £3 million, has had to force his way into the team as of late, given the strong form of Ryan Christie, Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham as the playmakers of the side over the past few years. However, given the way results have gone over the past month, Turnbull has been given his chance in the ‘#10’ spot as Neil Lennon looks to shake up Celtic’s recent form – and he hasn’t looked back with some strong performances.

Posting a photo on Twitter with the trophy following the monumental win, fans lauded their praise on Turnbull and let him know just how impressed their were with his performances, set-pieces and ability to fit seamlessly into the side as of late.

One fan, actor Tony Curran, commented: “Congratulations David…. what a day what a win….. your desire skills and energy injected new life back into us against Lille and no doubt will continue for the rest of the season.”
