“Celtic have to come to some kind of agreement with Tottenham so it’s not completely in my hands,” CCV

The will-he-won’t-he Cameron Carter-Vickers transfer saga has seen the player himself break his silence on making his temporary move to Celtic a permanent arrangement. And going by a social media message issued by the club in support of all Celtic’s international players on International duty Celtic are already including the American defender – who played 45 minutes as USA defeated Morocco, his first international minutes since 2019 – as one of their own.

Carter-Vickers, as reported in Daily Record seems to hint the reports of a deal between the player and the club isn’t the stumbling block, instead it appears it’s the reaching of an agreement between Celtic and Spurs that may be the last hurdle to cross.

“I have really enjoyed it at Celtic. We were good to watch and an enjoyable team to play in. I am 24 now and want to be somewhere where I can settle for a few years.

“Me and my agent have been talking to the club throughout the season about what’s going to happen at the end of the season. But obviously, it’s not just my decision. Celtic have to come to some kind of agreement with Tottenham so it’s not completely in my hands.

“I just want to be somewhere playing football. If I’m being completely honest, I think it’s time to move on permanently.

“I’m happy with last season. I really enjoyed my time there. But what will happen in the future? I’m not too sure. Will I go back? You never know. I just want to be somewhere where I enjoy my football and get on with the manager.

“The manager at Celtic is a top manager who wants to play out of the back and keep possession, which suits me.”

It has been reported Celtic have a 15 June line in the sand to conclude a deal with Spurs before other interested parties – reported to include the likes of Newcastle, Everton and Bournemouth – can make their own plays for Carter-Vickers

Hopefully an agreement can be reached before that deadline because it seems the player would like to halt the nomadic lifestyle of the loan circus merry-go-round, he’s been on during his time with Spurs, and Celtic it would appear suits the player and the style of football he wants to be a part of under Ange Postecoglou.

“It’s been kind of difficult to keep going out on loan. “But it’s been good for me as well. I feel I really have improved as a player and person. And in a way, it’s almost fun to kind of have a new challenge every year.”

It very much looks like this one will come down to how Michael Nicholson and Daniel Levy progress the structure of the transfer fee for Carter-Vickers, and unless someone dealing with Celtic’s social media has gone off message by including Carter-Vickers as one of our international players, it would appear the club are also confident of getting this deal over the line.

About Author

As a Bellshill Bhoy I was taken to my first Celtic game in the summer of 1987. It was Billy McNeill’s return to Celtic Park as manager and Celtic lost 5-1 to Arsenal . I thought I was a jinx, I think my Grandfather might have thought the same. It was the finest gift anyone ever gave me when he walked me through Parkhead's gates.
