Celtic in top 5 in Europa League for academy players in squad

According to Football Talent Scout, Celtic are the 5th placed team out of 32 for most academy graduates in their squad. After securing a vital three points earlier on in the week at Celtic Park, the Bhoys watched on as other Europa League opponents did battle on their own respective journey to reach the knockouts.

With Celtic in the midst of one of their most significant and thorough rebuilds in modern history, the first team squad has found itself with no less than 11 academy players included in this seasons Europa League squad. The club are only behind, FC Midtjylland (16), Real Sociedad (13), Sparta Prague (13) and Sturm Graz (12). This will be very pleasing for all levels at Celtic, and is the result of dedication and hard work by the development squads and their coaches.

Celtic have a rich tradition of integrating young players from the youth system who have played their part in our own unique history. As far back as the ‘Quality Street Gang’, our Club has produced some of the finest talents to play in this country and even beyond.

The Celtic academy stars that make up the 11 include; James Forrest, Callum McGregor, Adam Montgomery, Stephen Welsh, Anthony Ralston and Mikey Johnston – nearly all of whom played a part in the victory overy the Hungarians, Ferencvaros. That is nothing short of excellent and bodes really well for the future under Ange Postecoglou.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
