Celtic bosses have outlined the procedure that resulted in Paul Tisdale’s appointment as Head of Football Operations…

The matter came up at the recent meeting between representatives of various Celtic supporters’ groups and the board on Monday night at Celtic Park, following a query about updating the club’s structure to enhance European competitiveness. In response, CEO Michael Nicholson and CFO Chris McKay pointed to Tisdale’s appointment as one of the measures already implemented.
Those in attendance asked whether any other candidates had been considered for the role and if Tisdale had any prior connections with individuals within the club.
It was clarified that multiple individuals were consulted during the hiring process, and that Tisdale had been tasked with evaluating the club’s game model — assessing its style and structure and applying data analysis to pinpoint players suited to that framework.
He made a strong impression, and Brendan Rodgers endorsed the ultimate decision to bring him in as Head of Football Operations, according to the board.

As per Celtic FC, The minutes of the meeting read: “The meeting discussed the Head of Football Operations role and the recruitment thereof, with confirmation sought as to whether a recruitment process was followed and if other candidates were interviewed, whether there was any pre-existing connection between the Clubs’ current Head of Football Operations and any Celtic plc board members and whether the football manager was involved.”
“CMcK (Chris McKay) confirmed that the Club spoke with several potential candidates that had been identified but that there was no external recruitment consultancy appointed. MN (Michael Nicholson) confirmed that there was no family or business connection between the current Head of Football Operations and Celtic plc board members, but that individuals had crossed paths previously.”

“MN confirmed that the manager supported the recruitment of Paul Tisdale following a consultancy period last summer. CMcK confirmed that Paul Tisdale had worked on a project in which he analysed the Club’s game model with a view to mapping the Club’s playing style and system with a view to using data driven results to identify players who fit the Club’s model.”

Always felt that this summer, called upon a good working relationship between Rodgers, Tisdale and Nicholson, to be successful?
Personally don’t believe that is the case whatsoever imo?
Tisdale seems to have been given a task of potentially having a 3rd choice development team in operation, but without no real proper game time available, unless injuries should impact the playing squad Rodgers has in mind.
So far Donovan has benefited from the process to date.
Furthermore, with having a development team in place at present, presumably it’s meant to take pressure off getting replacement players into the club, all the while a development player is already in position and waiting for the opportunity to become available.
Would see it as closing the gap between B team and lowland league, to potential 1st team playing squad?
Haven’t got any issues with the potential plan, despite ourselves having such a poor record of developing players into 1st team squad players. The board seems to be upon board with the idea, especially as quick enough to get the positions of the 3rd choice development team filled quickly enough.
Rodgers himself seems to have totally dismissed the idea, as any of Tisdale additions aren’t within Rodgers plans whatsoever, by the looks of things imo?
You hardly need the data from Tisdale to say that Rodgers isn’t getting the best from so many players within his system of playing choice.
Believe that the data only concludes that Rodgers trust of judgement upon players isn’t as good as what data would show?
Rodgers is possibly old school and not to interested in a data driven game in place these days.
Hence the working relationship nowhere near as strong as required for ourselves imo?
Also believe that the board could well be listening to the imput of Tisdale, far more than that of Rodgers.
Seen nothing yet to suggest that a strong working relationship is in operation between all 3, and something is going to have to give, especially if the theory in place ever has a chance of actually working when needed imo?
