Celtic interested in re-signing Ryan Christie, according to report

Celtic are reportedly interested in re-signing Ryan Christie. The Scotland Internationalist is currently in the Premier League with Bournemouth, who he left Celtic for in the summer of 2021 and his deal is up for renewal at the end of this season.

According to a report from Team Talk, The Cherries and Christie have held promising talks about extending the deal but Celtic are keen on bringing back the attacking midfielder. Christie has started all of the games this season for Bournemouth and assisted once, which takes his tally to 6 goals and 10 assists in 85 appearances.

His time at Celtic was extremely impressive with 41 goals and 44 assists in 151 appearances during a successful period for the club. It appeared that he wished to test himself outwith Scottish football and Bournemouth offered a new lifestyle for the 28-year-old.

It will be an interesting one to watch, not least as his contract in the South of England is coming towards an end but Bournemouth find themselves towards the bottom of the table.

Rodgers may very well be an admirer of the player but it seemed as if Christie had come to its natural conclusion. It would be unlikely for Christie to be returning to Celtic on this basis.

  1. He had his chance and left, no point going backwards by re-signing him.
His ability is limited and no better than current fringe players.
Celtic moved forward once Christie & Edouard left.
    Neither is a match winner.
