Celtic issue scathing statement after Glasgow Derby events

Celtic have issued a scathing statement after events stemming from Sunday’s Glasgow Derby. The Green Brigade were a notable absence in the North Curve as Celtic were beaten by the visitors.

In a statement on Monday evening, Celtic detailed that they were reviewing the concerns raised by the GB after they were stopped by the Police, a considerable distance from the ground.

The club also highlighted the incident involving a Rangers player spraying liquid at the Celtic supporters in the Main Stand.

“Celtic Football Club has received complaints regarding the policing operation concerning yesterday’s match, specifically events away from Celtic Park.

“We are reviewing our supporters’ concerns and will be looking into these issues.

“It is important that these matters are addressed and the Club will be engaging in discussions with supporters and Police Scotland to understand the circumstances and events.

“With regards to the match at Celtic Park, we can also confirm that the Club has raised concerns regarding members of the away team engaging with Celtic supporters with the relevant authorities.”

Supporters will be looking for an update from the club in the coming days. The overreach was felt and the absence of the GB was felt in the ground. There were no issues for Rangers fans earning attendance to spout their usual repertoire of bile and set off flares.

Celtic supporters will be concerned by what happened involving the Green Brigade and with the Rangers substitute but they’ll want a reaction from the team. This is the second derby match that Celtic have been second best to a volatile Rangers side. Brendan will be pleased with the gap he holds over Rangers but not be remotely impressed with the first half performance.

  1. Supporters Liaison officer for Celtic was in attendance at the ‘kettling’ of our supporters so the board knows what happened, but do they care?

    • We have to accept what happened yesterday. The board would have known welcoming back Ibrox fans would need a bloody army of anxious police and so it was! Brought it on ourselves

  2. How come the police allowed the visitors to have flares.
    Surely not selective policing?

  3. Hardly scathing, in fact it amounts to addressing Zero,Zilch, Nada and took over 24hrs to do soo. Good luck with finding the outcome of any supporter’s concerns.

  4. Pointless posturing Lubo. Everyone knows why the weans in the GB got shafted at the weekend. As usual, they got carried away with their delusions of self-importance. They knew the polis would go straight for them, so why carry pyrotechnics, why wear balaclavas, why refuse to disclose their names when asked?
The polis did what they always do, acted like arseholes. The GB did what they always do, acted like wee pretendy hooligans, then greet like a bunch of toddlers when the polis react.
Next time you speak to one of those wee GB fannies, ask them to arrange a collection amongst themselves to pay back the hundreds of thousands of pounds in fines and penalties that they have cost OUR club, then we can maybe look upon their plight with a modicum of sympathy. Until then, f#ck ’em

    • I blame the board, for bowing to pressure from the establishment and media to let that scum back into the ground, hail hail

  5. Would you really want to take your children along with those type of people being free to do as they please.
Celtic have allowed this to fester and grow into poison mushrooms.

Rangers ll also allow the same anti social disorder, however I see more thuggery from that support.

We the unimportant smaller teams put up with both sets of thugs at our own grounds, we have done so for years.

RESPECT, Neither of those sets of ALLEGED fans has any.
The police are long overdue stopping and searching them, anyone with a dangerous object or refusing a search should be dealt with in court the next available day.
Nothing will change until that happens.

  6. I know we had some injury problems but our players were just not up to it I think Brendan has to realize if you don’t win your domestic game no matter the opposition you don’t get to play on the big stage
