Celtic keen on signing Premier League winner, available on free transfer

Celtic are reportedly keen on signing former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Scottish Champions are working late in the transfer window as the club look to deliver on Martin O’Neill’s demand for quality.

According to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, Celtic are interested in adding the 32-year-old, who has been training with Arsenal in order to keep himself fit.

The Premier League winner with Liverpool has been without a club since leaving Besiktas at the end of the 2024/25 season. The midfielder’s last outing for the Istanbul side came in an 11 minute cameo against Adana Demirspor.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 50 appearances in Turkey, scoring 5 goals and assisting once. After breaking through with Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain was a key figure under Arsene Wenger before a switch to Anfield. It was at Anfield that the versatile midfielder won the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League title under Jurgen Klopp.

The Ox would actually be a decent addition if it didn’t come off the back of a chaotic window. Celtic have lurched from target to target as MON and Shaun Maloney have had to incorporate recruitment into their other duties.
