Celtic linked with move for highly-rated Tottenham winger

Celtic are being linked with a move for Tottenham’s Dilan Markanday, who is impressing for the Spurs U23 side. The Premier League side are keen to keep the 20-year-old and extend his contract beyond this summer but the player is said to be keen on first-team exposure and is willing to consider his future away from London.

The Evening Standard are reporting that Celtic are among the teams that are considering a swoop for the Spurs winger. Bournemouth, Rangers and QPR are all linked with having an interest in bringing the youngster to their clubs, obviously excited by the talent that he is exhibiting for the Spurs U23s.

With 10 goals and 4 assists in 11 games for Spurs’ U23s this season, Markanday has earned his admirers in the first team, making his debut in the Europa Conference League earlier this year. Spurs want to tie him down to a longer deal before sending him out on a season-long developmental loan.

Celtic have an option to sign Jota, which would be the fans (and probably the club’s preference) but Markanday could prove to be a useful asset if he can, as is believed, be signed in the summer with a small training fee due to Spurs by way of compensation.
