Celtic linked with swoop for two Japanese Internationalists

Celtic are being linked with a double swoop for Japanese Internationalists Kaoru Mitoma and Ao Tanaka as Ange Postecoglou begins his rebuild. The 55-year-old was announced as Celtic boss yesterday and has the monumental task of building back a team that are capable of qualifying for the Champions League and dethroning Rangers.

According to the Sun, Celtic are being linked with Kawasaki Frontale winger Kaoru Mitoma, 24, and defensive midfielder teammate Ao Tanaka, 22. The pair are currently away with the Japanese National Team ahead of the Olympics and are said to have submitted transfer requests relating to wishes to move to Europe.

Celtic need some reinforcements in the wide areas with just James Forrest and Mikey Johnston currently on the flanks. In midfield, Scott Brown’s departure leaves just Soro as the lone defensive midfielder and this is something that Ange may wish to resolve.

Postecoglou will know the pair well, having spent nearly three years in the J-League as manager of Yokohama F Marinos. The Celtic manager will have to undertake an enormous rebuilding job this summer, identifying and signing players in all positions. With Postecoglou’s wide network, we can expect a number of players to be linked with moves to Celtic. Our business needs to be shrewd and we cannot be sucked into the vacuum of the Premier League prices, which are wild to say the least.
