Celtic loan star backs teammates to turn around season

JACK HENDRY has been one of the standouts in the Belgian league this season, earning rave reviews from Oostende’s manager Alexander Blessin. Hendry has watched on as his Celtic teammates have struggled this season and there have even been calls to bring the £2m defender back to Celtic Park.

Speaking to The Glasgow Times, Hendry has backed his Celtic colleagues to rectify their woeful run of form and win the league title.

“It’s unfortunate Celtic have picked up a few defeats recently, but I’m sure the boys in that set up will turn it around.

“I believe in them, they are all good players and from when I’ve been at the club, I couldn’t speak highly enough of them.

“They are all top European players and they’re just going through a bad moment just now.

“They’ve won nine titles in a row, so they’ve deserved that, and they’ve broken some unbelievable records which haven’t been done in world football before.

“They’ve still got the main core of players there so I think if there was anyone to turn it around it would be that group of boys, so fingers crossed they can do it.”

With just two wins in eleven games, there have been calls by the support and pundits for Neil Lennon to be removed as manager in an attempt to rescue the 10IAR campaign. There were ugly scenes at Celtic Park last week as Lennon’s side followed up their embarrassing Europa League exit with a 2-0 defeat to Ross County in the League Cup.

Celtic are eleven points adrift of Rangers but have two games in hand, there are a lot of games to play but supporters are worried that there are little signs of improvement. Celtic still look lethargic in attack and timid in defence. A convincing win over St Johnstone could earn Lennon a reprieve but anything less, including an unconvincing performance will likely heighten the calls for the Irishman to go.
