Celtic now willing to sell defender after rejecting Summer approaches

Celtic are reportedly open to talks to sell centre-back, Stephen Welsh, after rejecting previous approaches for the defender.

Stephen Welsh has seen extremely limited game-time this season and currently seems completely out of Ange Postecoglou’s match-day squad. The 22-year-old hasn’t appeared in a Celtic jersey since October last year and appears to be out of the picture as Ange continues to strengthen the Celtic squad with new January signings.

Ligue 1 side, Toulouse proposed a year-long loan for Welsh with an option to buy for £3.3 million during the Summer window. However, Celtic rejected the deal as Welsh still had a space in Ange’s plan. With four new signings already this transfer window, competition in the squad is constantly growing. Players like Welsh will quickly realise that their future may lie elsewhere, as they will fail to make appearances for Celtic.

According to SkySports, Celtic are now ‘open to talks’ to sell Welsh, as according to Reporter Anthony Joseph, Ange admitted that if Welsh desires to develop his career further, he will have to look elsewhere as he will struggle to get any game-time at Celtic.
