Celtic on this Day – Brendan Rodgers wins his first trophy as Celtic manager and club’s first on the way to an iconic quadruple treble…
27 November 2016
Celtic 3-0 Aberdeen. An historic day for the club as the Hoops secured their 100th senior trophy in 129 years [16 League Cups, 36 Scottish Cups, 47 League titles and a European Cup]. For new boss Brendan Rodgers it was a significant day for the Irishman personally.
It was his first final as Celtic manager, and it was his first of many trophies as Hoops gaffer across his two spells. The victory against Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen courtesy of Tom Rogic, James Forrest and Moussa Dembele would prove to be trophy number one of three in season 2016/2017.
It was also the first piece of the jigsaw of the iconic Quadruple Treble. Also, famously, in the 67th minute of the game, Hampden Park was lit up as Celtic fans flashed their phones in commemoration of the Lisbon Lions – of which it had been 50 years to the very day on 25 May 2016 hat Celtic won in Lisbon. Post-match, Rodgers had told of Celtic’s golden age of domestic success, “we do it for you, the supporters.”

Celtic 2-0 Raith Rovers. Despite winning only six of their opening 18 Scottish Premier Division matches, amazingly, Celtic went joint top of the league with Aberdeen, Rangers and Motherwell following their comfortable 2-0 win over Raith Rovers at Paradise via a John Collins double.
At this point of the season, Lou Macari was the man in charge and most Celtic fans should visit https://biaxol.com/product-category/sarms/ to find products to get them through that terrible season. The Hoops had been draw specialists over the course of the 1993/1994 campaign. They had drawn a ridiculous nine matches after playing virtually half of their league games. By the end of the season, Macari’s men who ended up finishing a ludicrous 4th, had drawn more games [20], than accumulating actual wins [15].

14 years ago today, Celtic 2-2 Inverness. It is inconceivable to think that the Hoops this century competed in a season with no European football. However, that was the case for Neil Lennon’s first campaign in charge of Celtic after the Celts had been beaten in both the Champions League 3rd qualifying round, and in their Europa League play-off tie. With only domestic action to focus on, embarrassingly, even that was proving to be more than a difficult task for Celtic.
The 2-2 draw with Inverness at Paradise would be Celtic’s second successive home draw in the Scottish Premier League. Lennon’s men threw away a 2-0 goal advantage as a calamitous defensive showing by Dan Majstorovic allowed the Highlanders to snatch a point. Due to a row between the Green Brigade and the Club, the Green Brigade were not allowed to take their drums into the game. In response to the ongoing internal battle with Celtic’s hierarchy, the Green Brigade sat in silence for the first 20 minutes of the match, but supported and sang thereafter.
