23 years ago today, Celtic 8-0 Stirling Albion. Young striker Shaun Maloney scored on four occasions as Martin O’Neill rang the changes against the part-time third division side. John Hartson, Colin Healy and Olivier Tebily piled on the misery for Stirling Albion as the Celts secured a safe passage through to the CIS Insurance Cup quarter-final against Livingston. O’Neill’s side failed to go on and win the competition as they were beaten in the semi-final at Hampden 2-1 by Rangers.
