Celtic prepared for the visit to Ibrox next weekend with a five-goal win over Motherwell at Lennoxtown. Ange Postecoglou hinted that he would get a game penciled in for the International Break as he looks to keep the sharpness levels up in the squad.
Christopher Jullien, Albian Ajeti and Mikey Johnston were on the scoresheet for Celtic as they warmed up for the game at Ibrox by spreading the minutes amongst those in his squad that were not away representing their International teams. Football Scotland report that the game finished 5-2 with Boli Bolingoli also managing to get some minutes under his belt following his return from Russia.
It will be a major boost to Ange’s plans for the remaining games of the season to be able to spread the minutes amongst his squad if need be. Christopher Jullien has been unlucky in that regard. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt are the preferred pairing for the manager. However, Jullien being up to speed will prove to be an added option for depth in defence should he be required.
Mikey Johnston will benefit from the game time. The winger has struggled this season with injuries but should he get himself up to speed, he’ll be able to stake a claim in the starting XI.
