Celtic pushing hard on Vinicius Souza deal as Ange refuses to wait for player

Celtic are pushing hard to get a deal down for Vinicus Souza. The defensive midfielder is on manager Ange Postecoglou’s list of potential summer signings as he continues to bolster his options in the middle of the park ahead of the new campaign.

According to The Daily Record, Souza has been told that the clock is ticking on a potential deal as Celtic aim to get all of their business done ahead of the new season. Celtic have been looking to exploit the City Group/Mark Lawwell connection to seal a deal for the player but Ajax, Espanyol, Fenerbache and Real Betis have all emerged as contenders for his signature in recent weeks.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph updated to say that City Group want a loan deal for the player, whom they hold a 60% stake in, whilst the two Spanish clubs have made loan offers. The Lommel SK defensive midfielder could be an excellent signing but only if the terms are acceptable to Celtic.

It is extremely telling that Postecoglou isn’t waiting on the player to decide on his next move, as was the case with Riley McCree. The Australian believes that the club and attached opportunities should be enough to entice any player to sign up. However, if a player or their representatives are not in favour of a move, other targets have been identified and can be pursued.

Celtic’s transfer business has been excellent this summer. Sealing deals for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers as well as adding Alexander Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist as Ange eyes more success in his second season.
