Celtic ready to offload forgotten midfielder in January

Celtic are looking at offloading midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi this January. The Japanese midfielder has been limited to just six appearances since arriving from Gamba Osaka owing to injuries and the form of others.

Guchi is approaching his anniversary at Celtic, along with those he arrived with prior to the January window opening. However, unlike his colleagues Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, Guchi has failed to make the impact that he had hoped he would have.

According to The Sun, Celtic are open to considering approaches for Guchi with a number of J-League clubs keen to take the player back to Japan.

In the central midfield role, Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley would appear to be the manager’s first picks. Although, on the periphery of the midfield three are David Turnbull, Aaron Mooy and then James McCarthy. Game time will be limited for the 26-year-old and Ange will know that the second half of the season will leave limited scope for a player to get a good run of games that has failed to make his mark thus far.

Guchi would benefit from a loan move that will see him get regular football and allow him to get himself fit again. The J-League would act as the most likely route for the player given that he has struggled to settle since arriving in Glasgow; however, the club may be keen to see whether there is interest in the UK for the player.
