Celtic scouts present to watch prolific and versatile Croatian forward

It does seem like an additional attacking option is going to be required in January. Leigh Griffiths is still sidelined and it seems like Bayo might face a spell on the sidelines too.

In an ideal world Odsonne Edouard would start every game and lead the line, but he will eventually need a rest so a rotation option is required. When you consider that playing time as a striker might be limited, it could make sense to sign someone who can cover a few different positions.

The latest player to be linked with Celtic is Kristijan Lovric. He’s a winger who can also play up front and his stats at least make positive reading. Six goals and four assists in the Croatian Premier League is pretty good going.

A Croatian football writer has indicated Celtic had scouts watch the player recently:

He’s 23 and seems to spend most of his time on the left wing, but can also play up top. If he is seen as a realistic signing then he would provide cover for Griffiths and Bayo this season, while also representing an option on the left if Elyounoussi isn’t signed permanently.

It’s hard to find any great details about him due to playing for a smaller team, but it seems like he’s got a contract with Gorica until 2022 but it’s hard to see his price tag being too high.

Lovric in action

He was recently signed from Lokomotiva who are generally seen as the feeder team for Dinamo Zagreb, but they shouldn’t have any kind of option over him now he’s left.

You imagine that Celtic will be watching a lot of players with a view to making signings in January, so there’s no clear indication that Lovric is their main target, but he certainly looks an intriguing option on paper if Neil Lennon decides to bring him in.
