Celtic set to offload £3m signing with MLS side keen on January deal

Celtic look set to offload forgotten midfielder Odin Thiago Holm this winter as the young midfielder targets first team football. Holm was not included in the Celtic UEFA Champions League squad then was omitted from the squad photo, which highlighted his place in the pecking order under Brendan.

Now, as reported by Sun Sport, MLS side LAFC are keen on the former £3m talent as they look to get Holm playing regular football. The report says that there is interest from Europe but that the MLS side could be favourites to secure the player’s signature on a temporary deal.

The Norwegian youngster signed from Valerenga last summer in a deal that was seen as being one for the future. The 21-year-old has made 16 appearances for Celtic, making one assist and scoring once; however, his sending off against Feyenoord last year appeared to result in game time drying up for the player.

Rodgers commented that the player was talented but he had to do more with it and work harder at training. The manager showed the same tact with Bosun Lawal, before sanctioning a £3m move to Stoke City.

There has been no hint regarding any issues with Holm at Celtic, it had even expected that he would’ve been loaned out if Celtic succeeded in getting Luke McCowan but nothing transpired. It is certainly a strange one as Holm has made three appearances so far this season.

  1. Think the writing was on the wall, once Holm never made our 25man CL squad?
Even more so with not being included during our league cup campaign, especially with McCowan unavailable?.
Always felt that Rodgers had taken a risky approach with only going with 5 midfield options within our squad, and thankfully no injuries had an impact upon ourselves?
But still an area within our squad, that could be tidy up and allows for more rotation, during the 2nd half of the season for ourselves also?
Holm isn’t going to be that player any longer, and if he’s had a falling out with Rodgers?
Then that’s irrelevant also, and best for Holm and ourselves, that he continues his future elsewhere, as hardly alone either within our club at present?
