CELTIC look set to return with a loan bid for Mitchel Bakker. The Dutch defender was the subject of a loan bid from Neil Lennon’s side yesterday but the Parisians knocked it back.
Now, as reported by Mail Sport (as per Daily Record), the Scottish Champions will return with an improved offer for the 20-year-old.
Yesterday Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph revealed that Paris had rejected Celtic’s initial offer but that it was expected that the Parkhead side would return for Bakker with a fresh loan bid – likely with a greater share of wages and or a fee.
The ex-Ajax youngster is third choice with the Champions League runners-up with Bernat and Kurzawa ahead of him in Thomas Tuchel’s estimations. Celtic are on the hunt for a left back with Greg Taylor as the only option following Bolingoli’s reckless decision to go to Spain.
Ideally Neil Lennon would want a defender that can play at the centre of defence as well as left back – something that Bakker is capable of. Whilst the news is positive that Celtic will return with an improved offer for the player, the transfer window still has four weeks to go.
So far, Lennon has recruited Elyounoussi on another season long loan, Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull, Albian Ajeti and Shane Duffy on loan. The manager will want to get another left back as well as another right winger in place to ensure that the side are in the strongest possible position ahead of a push for 10IAR.
