Celtic star defensive duo in contention for March silverware

Celtic duo Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty have been named in the 60-player USMNT preliminary roster for the CONCACAF Nations League Final Four. The USA Internationalists starred in Celtic’s UEFA Champions League knockout away draw to Bayern Munich and they will have staked their claim to start for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Athletic’s Larry Henry Jnr updated supporters confirming that CCV and Trusty have been called up.

The 2025 CONCACAF Nations League Finals are scheduled to take place from March 20 to 23, 2025, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, USA. The tournament will feature the men’s national teams of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Panama. The semifinals are set for March 20, with the United States facing Panama and Canada taking on Mexico. The final and third-place match will occur on March 23.

The United States Men’s National Team is aiming for its fourth consecutive Nations League title, having secured victories in the 2021, 2023, and 2024 editions. Under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, appointed in 2024, the team has experienced mixed results, including a recent 4-2 victory over Jamaica in St. Louis.

Pochettino will require to limit his squad to just 23 by March 10th. Both Celtic players will be confident in being included in the final squad, especially given quality that the pair have shown in Brendan Rodgers’ backline.

Trusty was signed in a £6m deal from Sheffield United to partner Carter-Vickers. The pair struck up a successful partnership, providing pace and poise at the back. Celtic will be hoping that their American Bhoys will work towards bringing the Premiership title back to Paradise as well as retaining the Scottish Cup.
