Celtic Star Eyes another Beautiful Sunday at Ibrox

AFTER a late defected shot from £7million summer signing found the back of the Ross County net via a deflection and against the run of play to give the Rangers a 1-0 win in Dingwall yesterday, we now know that Celtic’s lead going to this Sunday’s Glasgow Derby at Ibrox – the fourth of the season with Celtic ahead by 2 wins to 1 – just the 13 points clear.

A win for the Hoops would mean another Beautiful Sunday and the league title secured bar the shouting, singing, dancing and partying that will accompany the club’s second 9-in-a-row celebrations.

None of the Celtic players were born when Celtic won 9-in-a-row the first time around, not even Broony but they are about to get a first hand experience on just how special it is going to be – and they’ll know that it is just going to be a warm up for next year and the pursuit of ten-in-a-row…

Greg Taylor reckons that the Celtic players will be determined to get Nine Donne this Sunday, regardless of the the size of the lead the Bhoys want to win this game badly.

“It doesn’t matter what the lead is,” Taylor told the Media as reported by Scottish Sun.

“You can’t afford to take your foot off the pedal at a club this size. It’s the next game and that means it’s the most important. You have to put on a performance every week.

“We beat St Mirren on Saturday and now we want to get a positive result at (the) Rangers. We are aware there is added impetus because of the size of the fixture but that’s a challenge we are all looking forward to.”

Taylor’s own personal record in playing against the Rangers for his former club Kilmarnock is decent but he doesn’t believe that to have much significance ahead of this Sunday where he hopes to keep his place in Neil Lennon’s starting eleven.

“I managed to pick a few points up against Rangers with Killie but that means nothing now. I am at Celtic and this is a massive game and one I am looking forward to — but we want to get a positive result.”

The Celtic players will have plenty of time to prepare for the game, with no midweek fixture due to their shock elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Copenhagen. That could prove to be a blessing in disguise as Celtic look to wrap up a fourth successive domestic treble – that would be an amazing dozen trophies in a row.

The big prize this season was always the league so Sunday is a great opportunity to get that all but sorted. The free midweek is something that the Hoops players aren’t used to these days.

“It has been a long time since we had a free midweek but this is a chance to get a rest then build into Sunday’s game,” Taylor said, ominously for the Rangers.

Here’s to a Beautiful Sunday and 9-in-a-row party. But will the game be behind closed doors?
