Celtic star named in SPFL Team of the Week

Celtic midifelder Matt O’Riley has been named in the cinch Premiership’s SPFL Team of the Week following his exploits on Sunday afternoon up at Pittodrie. The Dane managed to make it two goals in two weeks after he got on the scoresheet against Ross County on the season’s opener.

Brendan Rodgers has openly said he wants more goals from Matt going forward, and the former MK Dons man is certainly taking his new manager’s words on board judging by his start to the campaign. He admitted in the aftermath of our hard-fought 3-1 victory over Barry Robson’s team that maybe he was trying too much last year and that’s why the goals never came.

However, it looks as if it is beginning to click for the English born Danish U23 cap. If he can continue on this wonderful early season form, we could be looking at another potential candidate for Player of the Year already and it’s only August! Hopefully with a few more tweaks to his game and a work on the training pitch up at Lennoxtown, Matty can hit double figures this season for the Hoops.

Shouldn’t be any trouble going by the first two games of the cinch Premiership!

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
