Celtic still interested in George Baldock after loan bid rebuffed

Celtic are still interested in signing Sheffield United’s George Baldock. The 28-year-old is being targetted by Olympiakos and Burnley but Ange Postecoglou’s side are still keen on bringing him into the club, having failed in a loan bid for the full-back.

According to The Daily Mail, a number of teams are keen on the player and Celtic are still in the hunt for his signature as they chase a first pick at right-back.

Baldock excelled as a wingback under Chris Wilder and attracted interest from Paradise back in 2019 which appears to have been reignited as the club search for a new option after Jeremie Frimpong left in January. Tony Ralston has impressed since coming into the side but Postecoglou has reiterated that he wants a first-team option signed. Royal Antwerp’s Aurelio Buta had been touted as a potential candidate but the trail has gone cold on that one so far. Celtic need to move swiftly with their business ahead of the game against Rangers at Ibrox in a few weeks, the result against Malmö emphasises that they are beatable.
