Celtic Store Vandalised in Glasgow’s Night of Infamy, Scotland’s Night of Shame

Reaction to a night of shame for Scotland as the Rangers fans gathered in the city with Police Scotland standing to one side and caused mayhem in George, vandalised the Celtic Store on Argyle Street and ended up battling among themselves amid the most serious breach of the Covid restrictions seen anywhere in the UK. Rangers players were involved in the Covid breaches both on Saturday and again yesterday as was their manager, who like the club won his first ever title yesterday. Here’s some reaction to Scotland’s Shame night of Infamy on Glasgow. We will be watching to hear what the First Minister has to say today after her appalling initial tweet at the weekend. Given the overwhelming disapproval she received on social media she tried to repair the damage.

“Seriously Nicola Sturgeon? This photo says it all on how your police force don’t give a Craigy Whyte about your Rules where one Club is concerned. This is going to affect your ballot box big time!”

“So this should reassure world leaders coming to Glasgow for COP26. Appalling.”

“What a picture. Police wilfully allowing these reckless fools to put the health of the entire west of Scotland at risk. Abject failure from @CC_Livingstone. No intelligence. No effort to stop gathering. No effort to disperse. Rates of infection certain to spike.”

“Scotland’s Shame”…”Glasgow has been attacked”…

“Glasgow is now officially the Capital of the Covid World”…

…”For those asking if them lot fighting each other last night was legit”…

“Glasgow City Council will have it all tidied by morning to preserve Rangers’ ‘reputation’ – I see workmen out in those photos late on a Sunday night…”

“Worth remembering the same Peter Lawwell who is happy to keep shovelling your money into Douglas Park’s business will say and do nothing about this.”

Here are the numerous Parks of Hamilton buses that Celtic had to take to Tannadice yesterday given the added restrictions put on Celtic and Celtic only by the Scottish Government in January after Neil Lennon and Scott Brown were photographed by some Rangers fans having a poolside pint in Dubai…

“Yes, just happy go lucky revellers in a lock down, enabled & escorted by Police Scotland, Scottish Government
and Scottish FA. Utterly shameful. Not only are lives put at risk but targeted damage done by the bigots amongst them…With your ok”…

Citizen telling Police Scotland to do their job and move these rangers fans on. Sorry about the quality of sound but rather loud down there…

“As for the overall Operational response of Police, approach to Saturday and Sunday, that should be subject to serious Parliamentary and Public scrutiny and again, potential disciplinary action or resignations may follow. Changes nowt for me re ballot box though, unless Scottish Government ignores it!”…

Joanna Cherry QC: “Well said @SandraWhiteSNP on BBC Good Morning Scotland about disgraceful scenes in Glasgow last night. Very upsetting for all those who have tried hard with great personal sacrifice to observe #Covid #lockdown restrictions and completely unacceptable”…

“Disgusted at the thousands of Rangers fans who gathered at Ibrox and George Square today. What a slap in the face to frontline workers and those who have lost family due to COVID. I don’t care what team you support, it shouldn’t be more important than protecting lives”…

“Can anyone tell me why Nicola Sturgeon is threatening the country with a longer lockdown rather than punishing the neanderthals that were at fault last night?”…

Update _ Police Scotland now saying that they made 28 arrests yesterday following the disgraceful scenes caused by theRangers fans. Sturgeon though has ducked out of today’s Covid update. Convenient that…
