Celtic suffer knock back in £3m bid for left-back

CELTIC have had a £3m offer for Croatian left-back David Colina rejected by Hajduk Split. The Scottish Champions are in the hunt for a new left-back after Bolingoli’s disgraceful trip to Spain left the club with no choice but to loan him out leaving Greg Taylor as the only option at the club.

Football Insider are reporting that Neil Lennon’s side submitted a bid of £3m but the Croatians rejected an offer, holding the player’s value closer to £4.5m. Colina switched Zagreb for Monaco’s U19s in 2018 before a move back to the Adriatic coast just a year later – where he has made his name.

The transfer of Colina was discussed at the beginning of the window but a left back is urgent for Neil Lennon’s side and with talks are ongoing for the loan signing of Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon.

The club have previously signed Jozo Simunovic from the Balkans and it appears to be an untapped area for stars to develop. Should a move transpire, it would be an interesting transfer as Split would like a deal to value up to £6m in add-ons, something that Celtic would be unlikely to commit to for a player that would play as a prospect for the future.
