Celtic tipped to capitalise on Barca’s financial situation with move for attacker

Celtic could look to capitalise on Barcelona’s precarious financial position by signing Alex Collado. Ange Postecoglou may be able to offer the Spaniard the opportunity to play Champions League football, something that could sway a deal.

As reported by The Sun, Barca legend Xavi is willing to sanction a move this summer. Collado is a versatile attacking midfielder, operating in a central role or on the right wing. Celtic have been linked with attacking reinforcements and the success of the Jota deal may be in the club’s thinking.

It has been well-documented that Barca are in a financial quagmire and need to get a number of players moved on to register new players for the upcoming season. Celtic could benefit from this by taking Collado off their hands.  The player has made two first team appearances but given the influx of new talent this summer, he’s fallen down the pecking order. This may open the door for another loan to buy opportunity for Celtic. Or, a straight attempt to sign him on a permanent.

Celtic have recruited well this summer but the manager said that his side would look to add another couple to their ranks. The Champions League Group Stages will add another layer of competition to the season, aside from attempting to conquer all domestically. Mikey Johnston is expected to leave, albeit on loan, and the manager will see versatility as being key to his remaining acquisitions.
