Celtic’s search for a new striker has taken a fresh twist, with former Aberdeen forward Bojan Miovski now being touted as a potential summer signing…
The 25-year-old, who joined La Liga high-flyers Girona last year in a deal worth over £6 million, is reportedly on the radar following a challenging first season in Spain.
Miovski netted just four goals in 25 appearances for Girona, with limited minutes and form casting doubt on his long-term future at the club. Comparisons have been drawn to Kyogo Furuhashi, who left Celtic for Rennes in January but has similarly struggled to replicate his previous success.
Celtic are yet to replace Kyogo, despite Daizen Maeda’s fine run of form through the middle. With Jota sidelined through injury and Adam Idah providing backup, Brendan Rodgers remains keen to bolster his forward line — particularly with an eye on both domestic dominance and Champions League competitiveness.
Veteran coach Jim Duffy believes Miovski could be the solution. Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, he highlighted the striker’s proven pedigree in Scottish football during his time with Aberdeen.
“I must admit, I did like him when he was at Aberdeen. I thought he was terrific, in a very poor Aberdeen team, you have to say,” said Duffy. “He stood out. He was a shining light there. Scored a good number of goals. A good link-up player. Left-footed. He was certainly a star there.”
Miovski scored 44 goals and registered seven assists in 98 appearances for Aberdeen — an impressive return given the club’s inconsistent form over that period. Duffy believes a loan move with a potential buy-out clause could suit both parties.
“If he can recapture some of that form… I think he would be a good signing for Celtic,” he added. “He knows the Scottish game. Scores goals. I wouldn’t rule that one out.”
With Celtic aiming to strengthen their European campaign and reclaim domestic supremacy, Miovski’s familiarity with the Scottish Premiership and untapped potential make him a name worth watching this summer.
