Celtic tipped to sign talented midfielder as manager admits his head has been turned

There’s always going to be attention as soon as a 16-year old breaks into a senior team, so it’s understandable that the bigger teams are starting to circle round St Mirren wonderkid Dylan Reid.

He’s only just turned 16 and he’s already played for the senior side against the Rangers, and HITC have indicated that Celtic are one of the teams tipped to have an interest in him.

They aren’t alone in that interest as the big clubs down south and in Germany have also been linked, while some recent comments from Jim Goodwin have indicated that he could be off this summer.

The report quotes him as admitting that Reid has “had his head turned” so that’s ominous from a St Mirren point of view, while he’s also been compared to John McGinn who came through the ranks in Paisley too.

It really must be said that he’s only played a few minutes of senior football so he’s unlikely to move and go straight into a senior setup anywhere, so it will come down to what he feels is best for his development.

Celtic’s lack of managerial clarity will prevent nay major transfers happening just now but they’ve already shown they will tie up talented young players if the opportunity presents itself, so this could be an interesting one to watch.

It might be a stretch to immediately compare him to McGinn but Celtic still regret missing out on him after he went to Aston Villa, so it makes sense to get Reid tied up if they genuinely see him as having similar potential.
