Celtic to make move for £8m-rated Kyogo replacement

Celtic will revisit their interest in Mathias Kvistgaarden amid strong links suggesting Kyogo is on his way out. After Celtic beat Young Boys last night to secure their place in the UCL Play-Off round, a story broke that a £10m deal had been sealed that would take Kyogo to Rennes.

While the rumours build regarding Kyogo’s exit, there have been fresh links suggesting Celtic lining up Danish striker Kvistgaarden.

As reported by Sun Sport, Celtic will make Brondby an offer in an attempt to sign the 22-year-old.

The striker has scored 14 goals and assisted 5 times in 22 appearances so far this season. The pacy striker has caught the eye of a number of clubs and with two and a half years remaining on his current deal, Brondby will be in a strong negotiating position. It is believed that Brondby want between £7m-8m for their talisman. The Dane has been courted by Eintracht Frankfurt but could be drawn by the UCL knockout stages as well as the career trajectory associated with Celtic.

You sensed that there would be something this month linking Kyogo with an exit after the 30-year-old switched agents in the summer. The Japanese striker will likely be keen to increase the number of caps that he has after being somewhat overlooked during his time in Scotland while teammate Daizen Maeda earned the nod from national team boss Hajime Moriyasu.

Adam Idah was involved in the winning goal last night after making a great run to get on the end of Reo Hatate’s world class pass; however, the Irishman has struggled in front of goal over the last couple of months.

Brendan will want another No.1 striker to compete with Idah with Johnny Kenny and Daniel Cummings vying for that third choice spot.
