Celtic Top Euro Chart after Accies Win, Ahead of Liverpool and Man City

Celtic have moved to the top of the European goal charts after four goals in today’s win over Hamilton Accies.

With Steven Gerrard’s Rangers slipping up versus Aberdeen on Saturday, Neil Lennon’s Celts knew that a win would open up a 7 point gap over their Glasgow rivals should they beat Hamilton Accies.

A brace from Odsonne Edouard and goals from Christopher Jullien and James Forrest sealed a win for the Scottish Champions but the result put them top of another league – the European goal charts.

Celtic sit on 68 goals, two ahead of RB Salzburg and three ahead of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering Liverpool sit in 7th with 60 goals. It is an incredible achievement for Celtic and testament to Neil Lennon’s return to fast-paced, direct football that Celtic have been in a free-scoring mood this season.

To contrast it with the Invincible season, Celtic had scored 60 goals at this stage – albeit had a gigantic chasm between themselves and the second placed side, Rangers. Whilst Brendan Rodgers’ side finished with 106 goals that season, Lennon’s current side remain on track to bettering that incredible tally.
