Celtic are reportedly tracking highly-rated Irish striker Patrick Casey. The Ireland U19s star is currently plying his trade with EFL League One side Charlton Athletic but given their precarious place at the bottom of the table, they may struggle to keep ahold of the striker.
According to Football Insider, Celtic are competing with Brighton and some Swiss sides for the signature of Casey. As he progresses through the ranks at Charlton, Casey has shown that he is a clinical finisher, netting 31 times this season for the youth team.
It is no surprise that Brighton are tracking Casey, especially given their success with Ivan Ferguson. Casey would not be a Celtic first team signing but the player, who made his debut for Charlton this year, would be a prospect for the future. The issue is where he fits in with Celtic B playing their football in the Lowland League. It is hardly an enticing option. With that said, the progress that Bosun Lawal is making having played through the Lowland League and now staring for Fleetwood, expresses that there is a pathway to the first team.
Celtic are already facing a summer rebuild with No.1 Joe Hart set to retire. The 36-year-old is calling time on an impressive career having found a home at Celtic. The 75-cap ex-England Internationalist said that he found himself searching between the time at Man City and Celtic.
