Celtic face Aberdeen this afternoon in the top of the table clash at Paradise. The Scottish Champions sit at the top of the pile but Brendan Rodgers’ team are only ahead on goal difference.
The manager has a couple of headaches this afternoon in terms of team selection due to the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers. The central defender has trained and is in contention but it remains to be seen whether Brendan puts him in for the match. The manager confessed he had a bit of discomfort that required to be managed and you would imagine he wants him for Atalanta during the week.
The next issue is in midfield, and whether to go with Paulo Bernardo or Reo Hatate. Both were on international duty and have had varying levels of impact so far this season. Both are capable and bring different qualifies to the team and both will be required in the coming week but Brendan needs to decide who starts.
Greg Taylor remains out with a calf strain meaning that Alex Valle will start at left back. You would expect that Rodgers will go with Valle, Scales, Trusty and Johnston with CCV coming on after an hour or so.
Given the balance that Hatate brings to the side, you’d imagine that Hatate would get the nod to join Arne Engles and Callum McGregor.
The front three picks itself with Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn in the wide areas with Kyogo up front. Aberdeen like to play a high line, which means that the trio could do some damage if they’re given space.
Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Valle, Scales, Trusty, Johnston; McGregor, Hatate, Engels; Maeda, Kyogo, Kühn.
