Celtic v Hearts: Team News, Live Stream and Tickets

Celtic are back in domestic action tomorrow with the Scottish Champions taking on Hearts at Celtic Park, fresh from the Champions League win over Dutch Champions Feyenoord in midweek. Ange Postecoglou lost the opening day match as Celtic manager back in season 2021-22 but since then Celtic have secured ten victories in a row against Hearts in all competitions.

Hearts don’t have a good record at Celtic Park having lost 23 of their last 24 visits to the east end of Glasgow,  so no wonder they have failed to sell out their away end tickets for the game.  Their only win in that period was a 1-0 League Cup success back in 2009.

Celtic are unbeaten in our last 52 league matches at Celtic Park, (W44 D8) and that’s just one short of the all-time club record of 53 which was set by Martin O’Neill’s fine side between July 2001 and April 2004.

Brendan Rodgers has Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda back in the squad and available for selection. On the other hand Liel Abada is still a few weeks short of being considered for selection and Reo Hatate is not going to return until after the winter break.

Mitchel Frame, the 17 year-old left wing-back could get a start with Greg Taylor rested. Liam Scales will start as the left sided central defender, full of confidence after picking up his Man of the Match award in midweek and is likely to start alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers.  Stephen Welsh picked up a knock against Feyenoord but should be available but is likely to drop to the bench to make way for the American international.

Tomoki Iwata appears to be fine after his early substitution and could be a surprise starter, as he looked to have picked up an ankle injury early it the match against Feyenoord.  He should start along Callum McGregor and the outstanding Matt O’Riley.

Daizen Maeda will play as the right winger, Luis Palma will be on the left and Kyogo will lead the line.

So the predicted Celtic team is Hart; A.Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Frame; Iwata, McGregor, O’Riley; Maeda, Kyogo and Palma.

Live Stream and Tickets

The match, which has a 3pm kick-off time (CPT)  is live on Celtic TV for subscribers living outside of Britain and Ireland but is not being shown live by Sky Sports. Highlights will be available on BBC Sportscene.  Celtic have sold all home tickets but supporters still looking for tickets could still get sorted. Hearts are still selling their away allocation via their official website.
