Celtic v Rangers: team news, KO time, officials and where to watch

Celtic face theRangers in the Viaplay League Cup Final tomorrow at Hampden Park. The game is a sell-out and promises to be an enthralling fixture as the Champions of Scotland face their closest challengers. It’s the second time the two clubs have met in a League Cup Final with Christopher Jullien getting the only goal of the game to win the cup for Celtic in December 2019.

Ange Postecoglou has been his typical self in the build up to the game as have his players; however, there is a great deal more noise coming from the other side of the city. Hopefully, by 6pm tomorrow, the talking has been done on the pitch by Celtic.

Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns going into the game as Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull return after missing the game at the weekend. Mooy is likeliest to come into the team at Matt O’Riley’s expense. Kyogo trained and despite Oh starting last week, the Japanese striker will be expected to lead the line at Hampden.

In the wide areas, Ange must wrestle with who he wants to attack theRangers. This will likely be Jota and Daizen Maeda although many reckon that Ange Postecoglou will be tempted to play Liel Abada who gas a tremendous scoring record against Celtic’s noisy neighbours.

Predicted XI: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Mooy, Hatate; Jota, Kyogo, Maeda.

Kick Off Time

The game kicks off at 3pm (Celtic Park time).

Officials

Nick Walsh is the man in the middle. He is assisted by Frank Connor and David Roome. At Clydesdale House, John Beaton is on VAR alongside AVAR Graeme Stewart. What could possibly go wrong?

Where to Watch

The game will be shown exclusively on Viaplay for subscribers within Britain and Ireland with those outwith able to watch via Celtic TV. Coverage on Viaplay begins at 2pm with pundits discussing the game as we build up towards kick-off.

It is a huge game and one that is hotly anticipated.  The build up to the game is reaching reached fever pitch and the waiting is almost over. Soon the teams take the field and we discover where the League Cup will be headed. Celtic will be favourites and hopefully our quality will tell. After the Celtic FC Women put down a marker last night with a crucial 3-0 victory over theRangers in the SWPL, every Celtic fan would settle for a repeat scoreline tomorrow.  However it’s likely to be tighter and just like the last time it might end up being a narrow 1-0 win for the Hoops. That will do nicely.
