Celtic v RB Leipzig: French referee confirmed for Champions League clash

UEFA have confirmed the match officials for Celtic’s meeting with RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The Scottish Champions face the Bundesliga outfit at Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers’ side gear up for a game that could be huge for their hopes of qualification.

The European governing body have confirmed the appointment of French referee Benoît Bastien for the meeting on Tuesday evening. Bastien will be assisted by compatriots Hicham Zakrani and Aurélien Berthoumieu with Thomas Leonard acting as Fourth Official.

Meanwhile, Benoît Millot is on Video Assistant Referee duties with Italian official Maurizio Mariani assisting.

The 41-year-old took charge of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Feyenoord last season as Brendan’s side found a later winner to beat Arne Slot’s Dutch side. Gustaf Lagerbielke connected with Matt O’Riley’s cross in the 90th minute to give Celtic a taste of a win in the Champions League.

Celtic go into the game after an excellent 6-0 win over Aberdeen, which sets up a Premier Sport Cup Final against Rangers, while Borussia Dortmund defeated RB Leipzig. Both teams will be hoping to get three points as Celtic look to take a step towards qualification while the Germans look to get their first points of the new-look competition.
