Celtic v St Johnstone: Referee and VAR named for Saturday’s clash

The SFA have confirmed the refereeing appointments for this weekend’s Cinch Premiership fixtures. Celtic host St Johnstone as they look to go to the top of the table for at least one day before Rangers face Dundee at Dens Park.

Euan Anderson has been named as the referee. Anderson will be assisted by Calum Spence and Paul McAvinue with Lloyd Wilson acting as Fourth Official. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Chris Graham is on VAR with David McGeachie assisting.

Anderson has only taken charge of one Celtic game so far this season, the 1-0 win over Ross County. Meanwhile, the referee has taken charge of three St Johnstone games, the 4-0 defeat to Stirling Albion last summer and the draws with Motherwell in November and December.

Celtic drew when the sides met at Celtic Park earlier this year with Brendan Rodgers’ side missing a number of excellent chances. The Scottish Champions cannot afford any slip-ups against the visitors from Perth this weekend as they look to put pressure on Rangers, who currently sit top.

In the game at Dens Park, Don Robertson has been named as referee. Robertson was at the centre of the controversy following Celtic’s game at Tynecastle against Hearts with John Beaton owing to the two VAR calls that saw Celtic go down to ten men and concede a dubious penalty – which helped Hearts to win three points.
