Celtic Winger’s Excitement At Prospect Of Playing Against His Brother

Alan Forrest may be well behind brother, James, in terms of footballing achievements. However, astonishingly, the Ayr United star was the first of the siblings to score against a team referring to themselves as Rangers. Not only did Alan score against Rangers before James, but he did so twice on different occasions!

The brothers have never played against each other in professional football but that could be about to change as Alan has just signed a pre-contract agreement with Livingston.

Speaking to the Celtic View podcast, James Forrest told of his excitement at his brother’s progress: “I’ve watched him over the years and I know what he can do – he’s a really good player, so I’m delighted for him that he’s got his move and I’m really confident that he’ll do well and he’ll produce the goods.”

When asked the inevitable question about the pair coming up against each other, James responded: “Every cup draw over the years we’ve never managed to get Ayr but now he’s playing with Livingston we’ll play against each other. It’ll be a strange one, the family will want it to go well for both but that can’t happen in football. But I’m delighted for him and I’m sure he’ll do well.”
